I really love growing things I can toss into drinks. It makes me feel far more organized and elegant than I actually am.
You do not need a big garden for this either. A few herbs, a couple flowers, and suddenly your sparkling water looks like it came from a café.
Mint is the big one around here. People are always warning you not to let it spread, but honestly, I let it do whatever it wants. It pops up where it pops up and I am fine with it. More mint, more happiness. Mojitos, iced tea, lemon water, random “garden drinks.” It all works.
I also love basil, lemon balm, rosemary, thyme, and lavender. Half the fun is just brushing past them and smelling everything while you are outside pretending to weed.
And edible flowers? Completely unnecessary. Completely delightful.
Pansies, nasturtiums, calendula, chamomile, borage. Toss one into a drink and suddenly you seem like a person who hosts garden parties instead of someone standing in rubber boots covered in black flies.
Honestly, growing cocktail garnishes feels more fun than serious gardening. Less pressure. More tiny moments of joy.
A handful of mint.
A flower floating in sparkling water.
A garden snack while watering plants.
